How joining the Marketing Society of Ireland has shaped me into a better marketer

When I joined the Marketing Society of Ireland, I was looking for more than just networking opportunities. I wanted to be part of a community that lived and breathed marketing innovation. What I found was a space that constantly pushes me to grow, think bigger, and stay curious.

Being part of the Society allows me to stay on top of marketing trends and continually learn from others in the industry. I really enjoy working alongside people from different companies and observing how their work ethic reflects the environments they’re in, whether that’s within an agency, in-house with a brand, or as part of a large or small team. Collaborating with people across all areas of marketing gives me a broader perspective on the industry and a deeper understanding of all the factors that contribute to successful campaigns.

It’s also an amazing opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas. Marketing is an industry that’s always evolving, and being surrounded by others who are just as passionate helps me stay ahead of what’s next.

Organising events for the Society has been another valuable learning experience. From brainstorming ideas to planning and executing each event, I’ve been able to strengthen my event management and organisational skills. It’s also given me the chance to refine my networking skills, build meaningful connections, and engage with marketers whose perspectives constantly inspire me.

Attending the events themselves has opened my eyes to different aspects of marketing that I might not have explored otherwise. Each event offers something new to learn, whether it’s about creativity, strategy, analytics, or brand storytelling and that constant exposure keeps me motivated to keep growing.

As a marketer, this is a reminder of how important it is to connect with others in the industry, explore areas of marketing you might not have considered before, and stay on top of industry trends. These are the things that truly help you grow into a better, more well-rounded marketing leader.
